Let me be ruled

O, Lord, this is the thing I would most hate:
To be casually caught
By a pin on a string and some tired old bait.

Rather, may i be caught and held
By your wonderful story,
Freshly told

Let my sould be detached,
Not grasping at anything in this world, and
thus overcome in my life the power of habit,
daily routine, dullness, fatigue and fear.

Create in me a carefee tranquillity,
a place for every encounter,
Unreserved receptivitiy,
An unhurried disposition

Father,
Let my existence
Be ruled by a great silence

Let my soul be listening,
Be given to the needs of other.
Let me be silent in my inner most being
Not asserting myself.

Extinguish within me the feeling of
self important and the last stirrings of my eg,
And make me gentle.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who taught us to be holy as you are holy.
Amen.
